{The world as a rabbit hole}

Right now I have work to do.

I have three essays to complete, and a splitting headache to go with it. One essay complete. Two to go.

However, I needed a break. So, 5 minutes ago, I made myself a cup of tea and flicked my horoscopes on. I needed to see what was in store.
This is what I found out.
"Today you're like Alice, and the world's the Mad Hatter. Nutty riddles keep popping up everywhere you turn. Don't worry -- like Alice, you'll find your way out of the rabbit hole soon enough."

I must say, it made me smile. I have no idea why, I just thought it was well-written. And I thought I should share it with you. I also need to share with you a decision I have made....
From now, despite the blog being about fashion, living and beauty, I am also going to blab on about my life. What I encounter daily, what thoughts float around in the clouds of my brain. You know, that kind of stuff. I really enjoy it actually. I hope you will too.

In the meantime, you must know that I am the kind of person that if I do not have something to do, I will feel bored.
I must constantly be doing something. Sitting down on a sofa, with nothing to read, nothing to listen to, or nothing to think about is a difficult task for me.
I sometimes worry about myself.

So, last night I had this odd urge to tidy up. I am quite organised as a person, but cleaning up is another task that I do not enjoy. So, at midnight, I was washing the plates and cleaning the bathroom sink. It might be the lack of food that makes me do this. I'm not eating much lately- my new diet plan. Me and my friend have begun it together. Don't ask, long story. I have also had threats from various people that they are going to stick a chicken wrap down my throat. Oh, they know who they are.

Anyway, back to the point.
So, despite from this sudden tidyness, I also feel more mature. Independent even. I have aims set out. I need to learn to cook firstly. Reminder- to rummage through my mother's old cooking books. She'll want me to type up the recipes.
Hmm, its rather annoying that my sister knows how to cook and I don't.
Oh well, she can teach me. Or I'll teach myself.
Actually, my cat will teach me. No, that's just odd.

So last night, I had a dream that I was in a biology class, and we were dissecting a cow's heart. Pulmonary arteries and all. God, I'm shuddering at the thought of it.
But now, I do feel hungry. And no, not for a chicken wrap.

So, as a friend of mine said a few weeks ago in a science class I was attending:
"God Vicks, I don't know a girl who doesn't eat Special K. Is it a ritual or something?"
I laughed. Because he was correct. Not the ritual part, but the fact that all of my friends and I included, consume it like its the end of the world.
Time for cereal :)

God I've gone mad. Or perhaps the rest of the world is simply the Mad Hatter, and I'm the sane one. Hmm, seems quite likely if I must say so myself.
Ugh, I also need to tidy my room. There's clothes piled up on my chair at the mo.
Where is that tidy streak of mine when I need it?
Anyways, back to essay time. Whoo.
Two to go.
I will find my way out of this rabbit hole soon enough. :)

I will be posting later on :)
Ta Ta for now,

Do I hear the word... SUMMER?

I have been anticipating this coming summer all winter.

Not only because I can say bye-bye to cracked hands, freezing mornings and winter darkness, but also because I can enjoy the outdoors and relax a little.
And I know that it is still winter.
But still.
Summer is on its way. It will be March soon. :)

As you've probably realized, this is the time of year when I am genuinely happy. The weather warms up, the sun reappears and generally there is that simply "feel good" vibe going on around me. Images of sun swept beaches and peaceful green fields flash through my mind, while eating watermelon and diving into the sea..."
Anyway, back to the point.

Point IS that I am getting ready for summer. Actually, no, that is not the right way to put it. I am welcoming spring, in preparation for summer. Yes that is much better.

So, I have been searching around for the spring/summer trends of 2010, with clothes, accessories, hairstyles and all.
There is one word to describe it altogether. Well, no, actually two words. BOHEMIAN and PASTELS.
So boho princess? Nah. I'm going to turn it into Boho Chic. Much better.

I'm sure you've noticed the happiness in the post today. :)
Hope you like it.
I'd lurrrrveee to post the post on the summer trends today but there are TWO little problems which are stopping me:
1. It is not completely ready yet. It is a draft version at the mo.
2. The house is empty. Which means supermarket time. Great.

Anyway, tell me what you think of this spontaneous blabbing
and let me know which words resemble summer for you,
in the comment box below :)

THE shoe

I was carelessly flicking through the glossy pages of a magazine yesterday, when my eyes suddenly fixated upon page 91. It was no significant number, and I hadn't been paying much attention whatsoever to what I was precisely looking at; my mind was elsewhere. But when I did decide to come back to reality and actually look at this page properly, my eyes widened at what I saw infront of me. It was THE shoe.

THE shoe, which was customized by milliner Philip Treacy, for the 2010 Valentino Collection IS a beauty indeed. Handmade satin, crystal&lace details embellish your feet, while tiers upon tiers of swirling lace embrace your legs- much like whisps of smoke. They add mega points of style&flair, and you will definitely be the talk of town in these exquisite pumps.

I would run out and by these fairytale shoes immediately, however there is one drawback. The price- THE PRICE, which is not mentionde anywhere at the mo. Oh well, I will just wait. In the meantime, it is time to save up. I am not letting these shoes run away from me!

Tell me what you think of them,
xxxx Victoria Adora :)

P.S. I have a lot of spare time on hands these day so guess what. Many posts are going to be filling your time too! :)

Lovely Weekly Finds

Well hello :)
Finally, the exams are over, and I returned home with this huge smile plastered across my face, despite the freezing cold which seeping through my coat. I was shivering so much. Literally.

In any case, I spent some of this afternoon, finding some lovely new items, that I am sure you will all cherish:)

Firstly, I am in a serious need to shop.! I was running around last weekend, because it was very busy, and I didn't have the chance to relax, calm down a little and trot by the shops, and casually glance in. I am very dissapointed. By I shall be shopping soon enough.

Now here are those delicious finds:

1. The Body Shop= Love (Again)
I know you probably think that I am constantly rambling abo
ut how I love their products, but I believe they are very nice indeed. :) They recently released
their new collection "Spa Wisdom", for dreamy skin, with secret recipes from the Far East and Morocco, which will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I also, like their "Cerisier Du Japon", or more simply Japanese Cherry Blossoms, which although is not a new range of products, I tend to always look at when I'm in a Body Shop Store. You see, I have this thing for Cherry Blossoms, I'm always drawing them when I'm bored. I have to admit I do not know why? Oh well. :P

2. Accessorize
Accessorize recently released their new collections for 2009-2010, called "English Eclectic" and "Parisian Chic.". Ranging from pearls, to vintage charms (which I adore), to cute little clutch-bags, ballet pumps, broaches and chic hairbands to decorate those delicate locks of yours, it is a simply fabulous collection that I simply loved. Check out their products online at : http://www.monsoon.co.uk/icat/acczloves&bklist=icat,4,shop,accessorize,acczloves
Tip of the week: Now that the sales are still on, check out their bags and earrings. They have some great bargains!

3. New Trend: Oversized Jumpers
I generally like keeping warm, because I tend to feel the cold. But I like looking stylish, even when I've piled on top around 5 layers of clothing at a time. However, my path crossed with this beautiful oversized grey jumper which I loved immediately, and since it is a mega trend of this winter, I thought I should mention it. I'm also mentioning it on behalf of one of my friends, who is always begging to borrow that particular jumper of mine. (she knows who she is :P)
In any case, although I cannot guarantee that it fits in with my usual chic preferences, it is acceptable in my wardrobe. Is it in yours? They could be, because oversized jumpers are not just perfect for cuddling up on the sofa with, but if they are teamed properly with a fabulous pair of jeans, a big bag and a smashing pair of heels, you are going to surely impress. Enjoy :)

4. New Music Anyone?
I am always scrambling the net for any new songs. If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you will know that I love alternative pop and indie, although I have my days
when I dance around the living room to electronic/techno, or head bang with some smashing rock :) However, I am going to flutter back to my indie/alternative pop style for today as I inform you on
my latest find: the band called Sixpence None For Richer. They are not a new band, no. But their music is simply lovely, and I had to mention it. You've probably heard their songs before, in lazy cafes or quietly on radio songs, but have not noticed them yet. In any case, take a look at: "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes", and get inspired :)

I would love to blog more, but I am a little tired today.
And I also need to make myself a cup of tea. Or maybe hot chocolate? Hmm...
And I need to find some hand cream, and check if there's any snow falling :)
Lots of things to do :P

I'll be blogging tomorrow. (about fashionn- vintage style. Get ready :D)

One Of Those Days

I have to say, I am rather annoyed because I have not been able to post for more than a week. And that is utterly disgracious. The computer was just within my reach, gathering a thin film of dust as it sat on the edge of the table, happily propped up, but I knew that I could not touch it. I knew what my priority was. Revision.

However, as I the minutes ticked past on the clock, and I had my head buried in my revision books, gathering notes, I must say, I came up with some more ideas for the blog. Heee Hee:)
I will be posting properly from now on starting tomorrow, as there is no more revision to do. I was beaming today with that thought. :)

Post to you all tomorrow!

Soft and Sweet

Why hello there:)

Delicate fabrics, pastel shades, elegant corsets, lace detailing, flowing lines and voluminous sleeves, create a poised, graceful aura about you that combines your tender femininity, with a breathtaking beauty. What could be better than the new romantic fashion trend that has just arrived, and looks like it is going to stay?

From flirty florals, sweet and subtle bows, romantic lace trimmings and flowing materials, to pastel hues that compliment complexions, and to cherished peep-toes and ballet pumps, this trend is soft and subtle, and is one that I love!

Look for:
  • Silky Bows and Lacy Trimmings
  • Flowing and Delicate Blouses and Dresses
  • Flirty Floral material
  • Delicately Delicious accessories
  • Pastel Shades
When searching for those pastel shades, opt for the pinks and peaches, such as Baby Pink, Terracota, Melow Yellows and Beige Beauties. My favourites for this trend, are pearl hues, lavenders and tenderly washed-out blues. For more on the colours for this trend, check out:

In the meantime, you will want to keeping those amazing peepers open for some pretty and precious accessories, that will complete that romantic flair of yours. Small satchels, or delicately ruffled purses are perfect for this, while charms bracelets, or little diamante detailings here and there are enough to create innocence. In addition, to complement those delicately adoring fabrics as best as possible, look for pastel or even beige/nude shoes, that will not draw so much attention and choose few ornate detailings that will create just enough interest, without being overloaded with accessories.
In addition, Lace is a big focus of the romantic trend. I have written an
article related on it, so you can easily find it in the articles on the right :) Just to remind you all, lace d
etailings create a richly romantic aura about you, which can instantly transform a simple outfit into a chic ensemble.

Hope you liked the romantic flair; I certainly do. :) Please post any comments or your thoughts about this trend in the comment section below, and do not hesitate to email me with any ideas, thoughts or anything you've come up with and feel it needs sharing.

Adorn Yourself With Lace :)

This photo shows a young woman, dressed in a Balenciaga Black Lace Dress, dating from 1951. Although some people w
ill call this old, others vintage, and some will claim "omg that is for grandmas", many will be suprised to find out that the traditional lace trend is plunging powerfully back into fashion, taking a modern turn with elegant patterns and trimmings.

I have to admit that I love lace and vintage, but never manage to dare to pull of that look. Though I might try. Might. In the meantime, black lace is everywhere this season! From Nine West Booties, to Prada gowns and bags, and to Betsey Johnson prom dresses, lace decorates many garments and accessories this season.... It was particularly cherished a
t Prada's A/W fashion show last year, and from then on the trend has become even more powerful in the fashion world. Many fashion agencies claim "Without wishing to be forever going on about Prada, we can lay the praise or blame for this entirely at their door, since their current collection has one message — lace."

Generally lace can give a s
oft touch of elegance, class, femininity and even a little flirtatious aura about you. Lace can also add a touch of sophistication to a simple ensemble.

However, if you prefer lace in moderation, instead of a dress/top, opt for a pair of elegant lacy pumps, a delicate pair of lace elbow gloves, or a lace covered handbag (Prada and Valentino have many gorgeous designs, though I'm extremely reluctant about their prices.)

In conclusion, lace is delicate, refined and lace detailing is easily spotted on many dresses and tops. It is also quite affordable, as High Streets stores have a wide variety of lacy
garments and accessories to choose from. Remember, if you

have a simple outfit, a touch of lace can make all the difference, even if it is a pair of lace tights for example. :)

Say Hello to Silk. And Ruffles!

Why hello there....Good afternoon :)

Until now, ruffles have been sitting at the back of a designer's studio unnoticed. However, ruffles are now entering the fashion scene boldly, beginning with the beautiful wedding dresses of Vera Wang and Oscar de la Renta.

That is lucky for those soon to be brides, but what about the rest of us, who simply want to shine at an upcoming party or event? Ruffles are perfect, especially when they cross paths with that sumptuous silk... Whether you opt for ruffled asymmetrical fabrics at the hem, or subtle pleated details that adorn the seams, that are not so bold and eyecatching, ruffles have their benefits when worn properly. What are these you may ask? Read on to find out.

Ruffles, although not always but most times, have a structured shape. The delicate layers of silk, which create a romantic aura about you also lengthen your legs, minimize your hips and instantly draw attention away from any body parts of yours that
you do not always adore. Asymmetrical ruffles create more curves to your figure, adding instant point of femininity and class to your outfit. To pull of the look, make sure that your dress or top fits you perfectly. However, if you want to look more slender, always opt for narrower ruffles as they are also more flattering to your figure.

In my opinion, ruffles are a lovely way to spice up a simple top or dress. However, I would advice you to start off with this new trend by picking garments that have specific ruffled details here and there. If you are a little intimidated about trying out this new trend, why not buy a garment with rouched or folded fabric which is less bold and more subtle.

I recently bought a teal top with a ruffled neckline from River Island in the sale, so why not check that out. Also, the dress in the picture above is from Lipsy London, (as I've mentioned before, I love that store!) and it is a "Silk Empire Chiffon Ruffle Dress" for around 95 pounds. The Lipsy London website is: http://www.lipsy.co.uk/, and there are many more to choose from.! Enjoy this new trend, and tell me what you think about it :)

My Picks of The Day...

Aloha :)

As usual, I'm glued to my laptop, in order to tell you all about what I recommend for today... Some stores that I recommend below are past favourites, that I have come to cherish over time, while others I recently stumbled upon.... Hope you discover some new places to see, or simply rediscover that old craving of yours for one of these fabulous stores :)

1. Paperchase
The feeling I experience when I walk into Paperchase, and run my fingers over the glossy covers of beautifully crafted notebooks is really indescribable. (i know you think I am a little mad, but don't mind me, which each have our weird habits right? Right.) Anyway, Paperchase has a whole new collection of notebooks, and cards and just little bits and bobs that will make you smile. And as I love writing, stationary kits are an absolute must for me. Maybe they are for you too?
What I also do, is that I collect random prints or cards with pictures that I like and I have created a huge collage-card wall in my bedroom. It is fabulous try it out!
In the meantime take a look at the new Paperchase offers: http://www.paperchase.co.uk/
2.Hollister- Clear-out time! :)
Have you ever been in a Hollister store? If you have you will probably recall
the darkness of the place. I know the lights have to be dimmed to create an "atmosphere", but seriously, I could hardly make out what I was actually looking at. Though, I must announce, alth
ou
gh they are a little overpriced, I always look forward to Clearout Time, when I c
an spend and spend and spend. For example, this jacket I had my eye on for some time, I got reduced from 5o to 10 pounds! I am so excited, I am glowing.! Don't miss the clear-out while it lasts!
p.s. on the site, check out their playlist.... some of the songs are good! :)

3.Lipsy London- Need a dress?
I always take a quick glimpse in Lipsy London whenever I get the chance. However, I h
aven't actually bought anything from there yet, I am a little indecisive on which dress to buy.. They have so many amazing gowns, with lovely material and embellished gems or silky ribbons.. It's absolute heaven. Check out the VIP dresses section on the website now. Oh, there's also a 50% sale on now. Could it get better? :D

4.MAC Make-up- Baroque Boudoir Collection
Decadent, luxurious...liaisons get even more dangerous with formulas for lips
and face, and the haute-style clutch of this baroque-inspired collection. Sate your taste for so
mething modern, yet ornate, MAC explains about its most recent collection which is guiltily pleasurable. With sweet colours and packaging that is so baroque, its a must this season in your beauty kit. Get your collection now, at your nearby MAC store or online at:
p.s. they also have released some other new collections called "Love Lace", "Viva Glam" and more. Why not try them out too?

5.Ben&Jerry's - Low Fat Yoghurt
When I hear the words Ben and Jerry put together, something happens to me. I have to admit that I am a crazy fan of ice cream, and Ben&Jerry's is probably my most favourite. I always have a tub in my freezer. Though sadly, right now I cannot seem to find one. Well its too cold too think of ice cream anyway. But, the "More Love, Less Handle" ice-cream campaign, has four favourite flavours with lower fat as a "yoghurt". For more info check the site: http://www.benjerry.co.uk/
Now, I am feeling a little peckish. Oh dear, this is what thinking of Ben&Jerry's does to me.:P

Hope you liked these little ramblings of mine,

Sprinkle a little Godess magic into your life...

Step into the official Goddess Experience...

It is probably one of the most classy, and beautifully made fashion books I have layed my eyes upon. This is the fabulous Goddess Guide by Gisele Scanlon. It is the perfect little book of fashion, food, beauty, travel and fun, it includes everything from how to spot fake brands, how to look after cashmere and even includes gardening and ebay tips!
It covers a wide range of subjects, that kept me busy all year long, and actually opened my eyes to matters in life that I hadn't even thought about myself. The cover is also beautifully crafted and it is a must for all those women that want quality and info jumbled all together :)

My favourite topics that this little wonder of a book covers are:
  • finding gifts for the trickiest people
  • plucking the best and neatest eyebrows
  • the best way to get value out of that little black dress
  • the brilliant advice from a variety fashion houses and celebrities, from Dolce & Gabbana to Miss Piggy and much more where that came from! :)
It is every girl's bible to a fabulous life, claims Sunday Express and I agree that is a little gem of a book that continues to sparkle :)

Dashing Daily Finds

or me, Monday is usually a slow, tiring day which usually drags on.

But today, things were much different..I was free to shop to my hearts desire, in company of a dear friend, and I must say, I came across some new objects and stores, which are now lodged in my mind. I felt obliged to tell you what I found out :)

1.
Luscious Foam Bath from Sephora
Sephora is not a store that is found in Great Britain, but orders are available online, and I must say, whenever I visit a country which has a Sephora located nearby, I will definitely p
ay a visit. My most recent discovery from the wide range of cosmetics, bath products and fra
grances, is a very special foam bath indeed. Sephora's "Sugar Babes Creamy Praline Foam Bath", which is moisturizing and is enriched with South African cocoa, aims at protecting your skin and leaving it feeling moisturized and fresh. I must say, it has a lovely aro
ma to it and it is absolutely lovely :)
Check out the official site for all its products: http://www.sephora.com/

2. Hydrating Lip Gloss from Korres
Many people have not heard of the Greek make-up manufacturer,
Korres, which uses natural ingredients and aims maintaining youthful and chemical free skin. It has a wide variety of facial products, including make-up and a range of haircare and herbal pharmaceutical products too. I absolutely love their nail varnishes, but, I must say, my most favourite product of theirs is the
"Cherry Full Colour Gloss", which is a high shine lip gloss with Cherry oil which hydrates lips, while vitamins E and C offer antioxidant protection. The lip gloss comes in a variety of shades of peach, pink and red and all their products are available to purchase online.
Check out the website now at: http://www.korres.com/

3.The Body Shop Works Wonders
I love natural products for my skin, as I worry about what I use, and so I enjoy using body shop products. I only use the "Aloe Gentle Facial Wash" which is also Fairtrad
e, and has been a favourite of mine for quite a few years now. I also recently crossed paths with a wonderful invention which has made my legs and arms much softer :) It is an indulgent, light moisturiser, that leaves your skin fresh and smooth, with a lovely aroma. This is the "Shea Whip Body Lotion" and I also recommend it. :) Enjoy.! I also noticed that there is a 50% taking place at the Body Shop at the mo. It is very pleasing I must say :)
Swing by your local Body Shop or surf the site for their products at: http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/

Fabulous Frocks, Dashing Boys anyone?

boys..." Elle magazine tells its readers, as it advertises The Luxe Book Series, by Anna Godbersen.

I first came across
the first book in the series, "The Luxe", a boiling hot June morning, in a cosy greek bookshop, on one of the Aegean Islands. Despite, the summer sun, the refreshing sea and the tranquility of the island, I needed a good read
and fast. So when I crossed paths with the dashing world of the Luxe books, I was engrossed immediately. I couldn't put the book down until I had flipped the final page.

I ended up with the second book by October, which I finished quickly and I am now sitting in my room with my laptop (obviously :P) and the third book "Envy", by my side. I strongly recommend the books to all those girls out there who crave juicy gossip, dashing men, gorgeous fashion, scandalous secrets and intriguing glitz....
It is certainly a deliciously guilty pleasure to read..

Check out the four books (The Luxe, Rumours, Envy and Splendour) in the series now, on the official website:

My Latest Find :)

So, I was absent-mindedly roaming around Boots Cosmetic Store on Christmas Eve, searching for some lasting minute presents for my family, when I ran into a display avertising Soap&Glory Cosmetics. I had never seen them before, as I travel quite often and I'm not always in the UK,so I don't always notice these things. But anyway, back to the main subject. I must admit that the Soap&Glory products are an interesting little find indeed. I've been using them non-stop since I found some under the Christmas tree and I thought I should mention them to you, incase you have not tried them out already :)

So, firstly I have really sensitive skin, and I'm very pale which means one thing- in the winter my skin goes all dry. Especially my hands. But I found the Soap&Glory "Hand Food" and I must say it has made my hands much softer. And also it smells really good, as it has marshmallow(!) in it. But, yes, I do worry everytime that I use new products that they will affect my skin, but this time they didn't, so i advice you all to check out the website:
or visit Boots and check out their products! :D

Fashion-orama

Listen up all you fashionistaaaaas! I've got news for you <3
It's autumn, and, it is time to stash away those skimpy shorts and say hello to those woolies. Doesn't seem very tempting? Hmmm... we'll see about that..

You see, there isn't really any need to rush out to the shops and buy complete head-to-toe outfits! Helllo? Heard of the economic crisis lately. Anyway, I'll I'm trying to say is that with just a few key items, you will look fabulously updared in to time.

1. Purple- Yes I love it, you love it, we all love it.
Purple IS the colour of the year and it is absolutely adorable. Also, I bet you didn't know this, purple apparantly looks good on anyone. Soo, what are you waiting for. Is it a top? A jacket? A new pair of jeans? Why not but them in any shade of purple- violet, lavender, mauve, magenta, tyrian, plum - there's just so many to choose from!

2. Layerszz
What happens when your jeans are a little too tight around the tummy? Or your shirt shrunk a tiny weeny bit in the wash? Have no worries! Just throw one some layers underneath and on top and tadaaa! There you have it... a perfecy, modernly fashionable ensemble that is tres tres chic.

3. Day dresses
What is this you may ask? Well, this is a trend that I have loved lately on my autumn strolls in the park or around the shops. A casual dress, in pastel colours (no metallicc!), paired over a pair of skinny jeans, or some leggings or a pair of tights, looks perfect paired with some cute girly pumps or a lovely pair of flat ankle boots. Go on, flaunt it!

4. Skinny Jeans
Are always in fashion. Put away the lighter shaded jeans and say hello to dark denim in shades of dark blue and black. They will instantly make your legs sleaker, slimmer and longer and look beautiful with a pair of heels and even, a pair of converse or if you love them, a pair of cozy UGGs. Word of warning: skinny jeans are always very low cut, so I suggest you buy a size larger than usual so they are more confortable. That's what I aways do.

5. Keep it cool
After a season of bright make-up with exotic shades, tone down a little. Earthy tones are big this season (browns, golds and greens) so try them out. I love brown eyeliner on the upper lid, and mascara is a must for me. I believe blush is a necessity, as it gives you that healthy glow and makes you shine. Oh, also, lipstick is in this season too. After a period of nude lips, a slash of colour across your lips looks fabulous and makes your teeth look even whiter. Time to smile!

6. Coattt
with big beautiful buttons? Check. Resting just over the knee? Check. With cute belt and very flattering? Check. Is it cosy and warm? Check. In a lovely colour? Check. And there you have it. The must have, perfect winter coat. Pair it with a beautiful scarf. Oh, and never spend less on a coat. Spending just a little more than usual on a good coat is a good investment for the cold winter to come.

Music Update Of The Week...

Well hi, and yes, I'm finally back :D

So, I'm going to start posting more and more so make sure you check out the blog often :D

I absolutely adore music, and I'm always scanning the charts and the radio for any songs that I will fall in love with. I like slow songs, indie and pop, and occasionaly a little rock, so if your tastes are similar you will absolutely the weekly Music Update. They're not necessarily new songs, but they're simply the ones I recently found out about and believe are worth mentioning. Here are my top 5 picks of the week:

1. Lenka "I'm really in my element..."

Her sinuous vocals drape around her lyrics with the ease of a child hanging onto its mother’s legs…or of a serpent wrapping itself around the neck of its prey. Whether channeling our long-repressed terrors (“Trouble Is A Friend”) or long-lost innocence (“We Will Not Grow Old”), her music evokes primal emotions, unblemished by pretense or cynicism – and unashamed of cracking a smile occasionally. An amazing singer, my favourite songs of hers are "The Show" and "Knock Knock". Make sure you check out her album, which is self-titled "Lenka". It's absolutely worth it. Her official website is http://www.lenkamusic.com/

2. Mika and his new album "The Boy Who Knew Too Much"

Mika's swooping, over the top arrangements and arch delivery make for contagiously merry pop music that gets stuck in your head, making you end up singing it all the time. His music is so happy and cheerful, and I fell in love with the album immediately. So far, my two favourite songs are, "We Are Golden", which is constantly blasting the speakers of my TV and radion and "Rain" which has a very cool rhythm to it. Check it out. :D His official music site is http://www.mikasounds.com/

3. A Fine Frenzy with her new album "Bomb In A Birdcage"

I have been a fine of A Fine Frenzy's music, and I've posted about her in the past. Now, with her release of her new album "Bomb In A Birdcage", I was extremely excited when I heard the news. Just like her first debut album, "One Cell In The Sea", the new album is also very sweet and calm, with musical melodies which are delicate and intricate. My favourite songs from the album are "Blow Away" and "Bird of the Summer", although I generally like all her music. My all time favourites are "Almost Lover" and "Near To You". Her official site is http://www.afinefrenzy.com/

4. KT Tunstall

KT Tunstall's sound definitely flashes back to the 1990s-- the massed acoustic guitars, the carefully controlled catches in the voice, the smooth beats. But the way she puts a song together is markedly different from the other singers she resembles. I believe her music is unique, so as her voice; she's a brilliant singer. My favourite songs by her are "Suddenly I See", "Hold On" and "Black Horse& The Cherry Tree". Her albums are "Eye to the Telscope" and Drastic Fantastic". Her official site is http://www.kttunstall.com/

5. Dashboard Confessional

The band was originally set up by Chris Carrabba, who is the lead vocalist of the band. Gorgeous, fully formed ballads like "Stolen" and "So Long, So Long" are long on elegant melodies, meticulous, swooning harmonies and wistful remembrances of tiny moments with ex-lovers and the band succeeds because Carrabba has found music as intense and bittersweet as his deep, deep feelings. My ultimate favourite song of theirs everr is "Stolen" and you'll constantly find me humming it. :D Check out their most popular albums, "A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar", "Dusk and Summer", "The Places you have Come to Fear the Most" and "The Shade of Poison Trees." Hope you liked my music choices and check back next week for the new music updates!

Music News-Featured Artist

Aloha bloggers!
I was simply searching yesterday for some new music. I simply love music, as I find it inspiring and creative, just like art, though it's a shame that I can't play an instrument. Though I'm thinking about taking some guitar lessons soon!... But anyway, back to the point! As I was saying, I was searching for some new music, but I couldn't find any, so I was getting a little frustrated, until I typed in some random names of songs and BAM! I found this awesome artist and I simply love her songs now!
I am talking about "A Fine Frenzy", or in other words, 23-year-old, Californian-based, singer-songwriter Alison Sudol with her songs that are a blend of sounds and influences, such as Ella, Aretha and Louis, but also Radiohead, Keane and Sigur Ross! What is the result of this? Hypnotic piano arrangements fused into atmospheric, irresistible and romantic melodies and songs!
Make sure you check out her amazing songs, from her CD, called "One Cell in The Sea" with 15 songs! My favourite songs by "A Fine Frenzy" are: You Picked Me, Almost Lover, Whisper and Near To You. Make sure you check out her website:
